Research
Documenting and safeguarding the work of Zinaida Serebriakova and the artists of her family
Our Research Mission
The Family Collection was created to study, document, and protect the artistic legacy of Zinaida Serebriakova. Working alongside the French Fondation Serebriakoff, established on the initiative of the artist's daughter Ekaterina Serebriakova, we bring together the family archive, scholarship, and first-hand knowledge of the works.
Our research underpins everything else the Collection does: the online catalogue, expert review, provenance work, and the exhibitions and publications that introduce Serebriakova's art to new audiences.
We welcome enquiries from museums, scholars, collectors, and students. If you are researching a work by Zinaida Serebriakova or by another artist of the family, we are glad to help where we can.

Areas of Research
The work that sustains the catalogue, expertise, and public interpretation of Serebriakova's art
We maintain a working catalogue of paintings, pastels, and drawings by Zinaida Serebriakova. The public online catalogue currently presents 416 records and grows as new works, provenance, exhibition history, and bibliography are checked.
The Collection studies attribution, provenance, signatures, materials, and documentary history, and coordinates expert review and research enquiries through its expert process.
Serebriakova belonged to the Benois-Lanceray-Cavos family, one of the major artistic dynasties of Russian and European culture. We research the lives and work of its artists across several generations.
We collaborate with museums and scholars on exhibitions and catalogues that place Serebriakova's work in its full art-historical and family context.
